In pain
Hey, so you know what's fun? 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes.' You know what's not fun? 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes', nine times in a row, because your students are too mentally deficient to comprehend the complexities of touching their head, followed by a vocabulary lesson of body parts, and another round of 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes' on uber-intense, cracked out, epileptic chipmunk speed.
I know. You were this close to guessing, weren't you?

If it makes you feel any better - your pain causes my laughter... not in the evil way, mind you... more... pathetic... no, that sounds mean... ah...
It sure is a bummer about that whole "can't dial 1-800 numbers" from outside the country, even if you want to pay for it - if you have any friends in corprate jobs, that's the best way - have them call you and then 3 way to the 800 #.
Anyway, I'm sorry. I hope you have another vacation coming up soon.
Since most 1-800 numbers come with the small print "from the US and Canada", you would have figured that businesses would stop giving them out to customers from outside North America where they actually work (and Guam, apparently. American occupation has its benefits).
But I guarantee you'll continue to find customer service representatives that find the concept bewildering and insist on giving you 1-800 numbers long after you tell them that they're useless. The numbers, not the representatives. Well, both really, but if you say that, you're unlikely to get much of anywhere.
Now, apparently, there is a way to dial 1-800 numbers from abroad, though I haven't yet had much luck with it. You need to dial the direct access number, which varies according to who your carrier is in Japan, before dialing the 1-800 number. I've got another interesting story about Americans struggling with this concept of "the rest of the world", but perhaps I'll get around to posting it on my own blog rather than taking up any more space here ...
I just tried it, and it turns out you're right. I need to exercise more...
